TV Coverage
No News yet I'm afraid.
Loads of you have been emailing us and asking about video coverage of the matches either via the Internet or TV.
We understand that streaming video will be available in the UK, but we don't know any of the arrangements!
As soon as we know - we will get details up on the website.

Hockey on TV
Its a pity the World Cup is not going to be shown on a TV channel since the current England side is a dark horse contender for the cup and the whole squad has really trained hard and this team deserves TV coverage.
Unfortunately, winding up the National Hockey Stadium at Milton Keynes has set hockey coverage back since we may hold the odd international tournament at clubs but nothing beats having a National Hockey Stadium to hold tournaments like Champion's Trophy ,etc.As a stadium normally have high stands ,hence easy for TV production teams to set up cameras.
Even A country like Ghana have a purpose built National Hockey Stadium
It is shocking that nearly
It is shocking that nearly £1bn can be thrown at a football stadium in the wrong place yet we can't even prop up one old stadium for hockey.
Hopefully the 5000 seater stadium that should come out of the 2012 Olympics will be treated with more respect.
Stadium
The London Olympic pitch is only a temporary construction. The surface itself will be moved to a nearby location at the end of the games - so not much hope there for national facility. On the plus side Highfields, Nottingham is hosting the women's champions trophy in the summer, which should boos the facilities there.
World Cup TV Coverage
I've just been on the EHB website and they've got a page called www.englandhockey.co.uk/worldcup and on that they say that The Telegraph will apparently be streaming the games. Don't know if it's all the games or just the English ones mind you.
If never helps when people
If never helps when people like comedian Ed Byrne on Mock the Week (one of the most popular panel shows at the moment) slated hockey and stated that its a girls sport.
I have enough from some of my mates who like to wind me up about hockey regardless (I also play football as well), but as I tell them, hockey is a much faster sport than football, far more dangerous and not just that, but I think most Hockey players make much better role models than the whiny "argh my legs fallen off" footballers who continously prove how little morals tehy have.
If this isnt a good enough reason to show teh world cup, then I dont know what is...!!
World Cup TV Coverage
According to Hockey.nl (http://www.hockey.nl/oranje/wk-2010-mannen ) , Dutch channel Sport1 will broadcast in English. is this going to be available via the internet outside of the NL is the question. NOS during the last European Nations Trophy seemed to have limitations that could be bypassed in the UK but not in France for example.
WorldHockey.org has a link to the FIH 'offering' the games live and on demand for €50. There is some vague indication on the bandwidth but nothing on image quality, so it doesn't look like it is going to be exceptional but most likely disappointing. Getting the friend with the best internet connection to use a media stream recorder and watching it on a TV later on might be your best bet at this stage.
Of course I cannot recommend to wait a day and snoop torrent sites.
We just have to hope that EnglandHockey repeats the Champions' Trophy setup.
EHB Website
I've noticed the site has become slower. Guess it is just a victim of its own success.
I've noticed one thing though, the video starts automatically when you go to the home page - this surely consumes a fair amount of resources when, surely, most users are just after a quick bit of news or some results
EHL website has been running
EHL website has been running slowly more recently; about 6 months ago the quality was brilliant but now it lags much more, hopefully this will get sorted if they stream games.
TV coverage
I can't believe that it is taking so long to sort out coverage for one of the biggest field hockey tournaments ! I have looked on UK Eurosport and Sky sports and there seems to be nothing mentioning broadcasting of the tournament. I really hope that either of these broadcast companies can view the games and make it accessable for everyone to watch around the world !
Disgrace
If I understand my conversation with the FIH correctly no-one has picked up the TV rights in the UK.
I have written a complaint to the BBC seeing as they seem to find the time/money to broadcast 2 football programs every Saturday, plenty of cricket, rugby, snooker and even darts, plus wall to wall coverage of the Winter Olympics regardless of whether or not GB actually has anyone in it. yet they don't see fit to cover any hockey at all ever (well almost).
I would encourage everyone else to also voice their opinions to them via their complaints website. The more noise that is made the more they might listen.
I Agree
I'm really frustrated too - it's all quite late in the day. At the moment it looks like internet streaming is going to be the most likely outcome. As the EuroHockey League has shown this can be excellent - but most of us have much bigger TVs than we do computer monitors.
